Tropical Martini

Its time to ring in the new year.  I plan to make my favorite Martini to celebrate bringing in 2017.  This recipe was inspired by a drink I had on my birthday at the Cheesecake Factory.  It was so good I set out to replicate it.  Well my version of it.  I will forewarn you that I am a fruity drink kind of gal.  I like drinks that the alcohol just sneaks up on you because the drink is so good.  I like all kinds of Martinis but this one is my favorite.

Tropical Martini

  • 2 oz Smirnoff Sorbet Light Mango Passion Fruit Vodka
  • 3 oz Passion Fruit Juice
  • 1 oz Pineapple Juice
  • 1/2 oz Simple Syrup
  • Splash Grenadine


Mix over ice.  Strain and serve.  You can sugar the rim and garnish with a strawberry and pineapple slice if you want to jazz it up.

If you want it to be more tropical you can replace 1 oz of the Passion Fruit Juice with Mango Juice instead.


I keep a batch of simple syrup on hand.  I don’t use the store bought since it is so simple to make and keep.  The recipe is 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar.  You mix them together in a small pot and boil till the sugar dissolves.  You have to let the syrup cool, then you can transfer into a container to keep.  I use those condiment squeeze bottles.  You can buy them for a dollar at Wal-Mart.  It keeps really well in the fridge.
