I am always looking for craft ideas to do with my daughter. She actually came up with this one. She wanted to make some slime. So I started researching recipes. I discovered that it was pretty easy to make. There are only a few ingredients:
- Elmer’s glue (4oz size)
- 1/2 cup of water
- Food coloring
- 1 cup of warm water
- 2 tbps of borax
Mix the whole bottle of Elmer’s glue with a 1/2 cup of water. The water should equal the amount of glue. So if you use a larger size glue, make sure the water is equal. We poured the glue into a glass measuring cup, then filled the emptied glue bottle with water. Shook the bottle, then poured the water into the measuring cup. Mixed the glue and water, then added the food coloring. We mixed in red and blue and made purple. Once it was all mixed, in a separate bowl we mixed a cup of warm water with 2 tbps of borax. Once the borax was dissolved, we poured the glue mixture into the borax mix. It started transforming into slim. To help the transformation we finished mixing it with our hands. Once we got it to the right texture, it was ready to play with.
The mixture felt great, better than any store bought. We stored the slime in a plastic storage bag. After a week, it still feels great and soft. I’m curious as to how long it will last. Its a great and easy craft to do with your little one.
